Rigger assemble and install rigging gear such aswires ropes, slings,  pulleys, winches tolift, lower, move or position machinery, structural steel & other heavyobjects, and controls the movement of loads handled by cranes using handsignals and taglines in various plant locations.

Receives work assignments from Supervisor, determines work, materials and requirements for tools and equipment, collects required items and proceeds to worksite to carry out the job.

 

Examines objects to be moved, estimate their size, shape and weight and on the equipment necessary.

 

Make sure that loads do not exceed lifting capacities of the cranes. Select the suitable capacity of lifting gear depending on the load to be lifted or moved. And ensure to use safe rigging techniques and colour coded lifting tackles.

 

Attach lifting devices to hoisting equipment and items to be moved using clamps, hooks, bolts and knots.

 

Choose and use slings and other grappling devices, covering sharp corners with padding to prevent damage to slings.

 

Where the load is not visible to crane or winch operators, hand signal, whistles or two way radios are used. Rigger has to be continually alert for objects which may come in the path of the load.

Guide loads into position as they are lowered.

Inspect chains, slings, ropes, hooks and lifting gear for flaws and damage such as cracks, wear, corrosion before using and report defects.

Familiar with the permit to work (PTW) system in a gas process plant. And shall able to pass the client PTW training in the responsibility of Performing Authority.

Make sure safety requirements are met at all times.

Works 70% of the work time in prevailing weather conditions outdoors,remaining time indoors.

Movement of equipment, rigging and lifting activities in the plant aswell as workshop

   - Completion of secondary education (over all 12 years education)

-knowledge of hazards and safety precautions in the rigging craft.

 

 

-Physically fit with good hearing and vision. Able to judge distances and to work at heights.

 

-Eight (8) years experience in a gas plant, refinery or petrochemical industry as a rigger.

 

- Speaks and understand English language fluently.

- Shall be at least 30 years of age and physically fit
