Mechanical Engineer

Role Purpose: The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design of mechanical engineering knowledge and improves production processes including:

o   Modelling and drawing of engineering components and assemblies

o   Maintain and improve the design of current designs

o   Aiding in the design of new products

o   Assist the software and electrical engineers to deliver project tasks.

Key Accountability:

Safety

· Compliance with all OH&S policies and procedures

· Actively work to improve safety in the workplace by identification and eliminations of hazards

· Build safety into designs and methods of working on new and current product range.

Prototyping

· Organize purchasing and receipting of prototype components and equipment

· Assembly of prototype systems and integration with software systems

· Plan and organize testing including liaising with suppliers and site facility to allow timely testing of products

· Test and record prototype equipment as per engineer’s instructions

Design

· Ensure drafting tasks are completed to the required standard and signed off and release asap propriate

· Support company vendors, solving manufacturing issues relating to mechanical production

· Build manufacturing and maintenance needs into designs and ensuring that products are accurately documented for manufacturing, maintenance and usage

· Develop hardware solutions that meet the cross-functional stakeholder requirements including product reliability, manufacturability, cost and time to market

· Responsible for the delivery of clear and precise manufacturing documentation including BOM’s,assembly instructions, drawing packs, QC and test instructions

· Responsible for the delivery of clear and precise documentation to support the development of training material for the maintenance and usage of company products

· Apply effective problem solving techniques to assist the company support teams in the resolution of product issues – Level 4 support through technical excellence

· Have engineering work performed by external and internal specialists, or undertake work directly asap propriate for the situation

· Completion of tasks and projects as assigned on time, with products meeting the demanding requirements of company’s customers, especially relating to environment,usability and reliability

· Ensure the qualityand deliverables of outsourced projects by providing scope and direction and measuring the quality of external work performed. Manage external suppliers

· Ensure quality assurance relating to testing, acceptance and verification of designs prior to release

· Develop strong IP for company
