A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Policy and Regulation Manager to gain commercial experience within my clients growing renewables business. Based in either their Swindon or London offices.

Role description

This role requires you to have a detailed understanding of the complexity of each aspect of the current UK energy market and to use this understanding to make recommendations to Senior Management.

You will be working on long term planning horizons which will require innovative thinking to create new visions for the UK market design in the 2020s and execute strategies to influence government policies.

You will need to be able to identify, interpret and use a broad range of evidence to create persuasive and passionate arguments which will then be used in an engagement strategy to directly lobby government departments, politicians and trade associations.

Alongside this you will be expected to apply your skills and knowledge to help advise on the implications/opportunities from possible developments in international markets outside of the UK

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in the energy industry covering market functions, regulation and policy design
  • Detailed understanding of highly complex and diverse regulatory regimes - Capacity Market, CFD, Carbon Pricing, Ancillary service and LCF
  • Ability to work independently and show leadership in strategy development
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills
  • Deep understanding of commercial implications of regulatory regime
